What is ultrasound assisted wound therapy?

Ultrasound wound therapy is a relatively new method of treating bedsores.  The concept behind the use of ultrasound is that the sound waves  will separate dead tissue from the walls of the bed sore to promote healing.

The effectiveness in treating bed sores with ultra sound is debated among medical professionals.  A recent European study of 146 people with bed sores (also referred to as decubitus ulcers, pressure ulcers or pressure sores) concluded the alleged benefit of ultra sound to treat bed sores may be limited— the study revealed that patients treated with ultra sound fared no better that patient treated with other techniques.
